  I was with Salt Lake Credit Union when they merged with Mountain America. I was kind of skeptical because I'm not a fan of change, but it turned out to be a great change. I really like my Woods Cross Branch and they are so helpful to me when I need them. I will always be a member. Had someone steal my debit card number somehow and they flagged it for not being a typical purchase I would make, plus it was in another country. They called me and let me know about it and took care of it for me and I wasn't out anything. Maybe other banks do the same thing, but I was so happy with Mountain America for doing that for me. Also, my vehicle loans have been a wonderful experience through them.

  I have been a member of this credit union for 36 years (signed on when they only serviced Sperry employees). Mountain America used to be THE BEST credit union in the state--their customer service could not be beat. If I had a question I could call my branch and get someone knowledgeable on the phone. I actually KNEW people in the branch and they knew me--we had a great rapport and working relationship. For that reason MACU won my loyalty for life. Or so I thought. But now they've 'modernized' so much that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a live person on the phone. The people at the branch who were so helpful are gone. And apparently all common sense has left with them. I was trying to help my daughter establish her accounts with MACU but we can't get through to anything but a dumb machine which absolutely is of no help. We've tried for days to get our questions answered and have literally been on hold for hours (did other things while waiting). Looks like we'll have to make a trip in person to the branch just to get some simple questions answered by a breathing human being. Utter waste of time! I have a small account with another local credit union. They still have that personal touch I liked so much here. I am seriously considering moving all my accounts to my other credit union and advising my young adult children to do the same. The customer service aspect of MACU no longer exists--they've completely lost that personal touch that made such a difference. As sad as it makes me feel, I'm ready to take my business elsewhere.
